AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARY RATES
FOR EMPLOYEES PAUL FITZPATRICK, RICHARD
V. CAHILL, ERNEST GARDOS AND CLAUDE NEW-
BERRY SINCE JUNE 1, 1941, AND AUTHORIZING
THE PAYMENT OF THE DIFFERENCE NCE BET JEEN
THE HiTES FIXED BY THIS ORDINANCE AND THE
AMOUNTS ACTUALLY PAID THE SAID EMPLOYEES.
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No . 6o4, and amendments thereto, the
City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, attempted to
grant, as of June 1, 1941, to employees of regular status in the
Police, Life Gu Mrd and Fire Prevention and Fighting Divisions, in-
creases in salaries of approximately 10% over and a eve the sa-
laries to which such employees were and would be entitled under the
terms of Ordinance No . 485; and
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No . 677, of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, the City Council attempted to grant, as of November 1st,
1942, to employees of regular status in the Police, Life Guard and
Fire Prevention and Fighting Divisions, increases in salaries of
approximately 10% over and doove the salaries to which such employees
were andwould be entitled under the terms of Ordinance No. 485,
together with the increases aforesaid which it was the intent of
the Council to grant by Ordinance No . 604 and amendments thereto;
and
WHEREAS, it now appears to the City Council that in certain
instances the object of Ordinance No. 604 and amendments thereto,
and the object of Ordinance No. 677, have not been attained,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That notwithstanding the terms of Ordinance No. 604,
as amended, and the terms of Ordinance No. 677, the
salary rate per month of Paul Fitzpatrick, a Fireman who was em-
ployed in the Fire Prevention and Fighting Divisions during the
period extending from June 1st, 1941, to May 10th, 1942, be and the
same is hereby retroactively fixed as follows :
June 1, 1941, to Jan. 8, 1942 $185.00
Jan. 9, 1942, to May 10, 1942 205.00
SECTION 2. That notwithstanding the terms of Ordinance No. 604,
as amended, and the terms of Ordinance No. 677, the
salary rate per week of Richard V. Cahill, a Life Guard who was
employed in the Life Guard Division during the period extending
from June 1st, 1941, to December 15th, 1942, be and the same is
hereby retroactively fixed as follows :
June 1, 1941, to Nov . 16, 1941 $ 35.00
Nov.17, 1941 to Oct. 31, 1942 42.00
Nov. 1, 1942 to Dec . 15, 1942 Wl .00
SECTION 3 . That notwithstanding the terms of Ordinance No. 6o4,
as amended, and the terms of :Ordinance No. 677, the
salary rate per week of Ernest Gardos, a Life Guard who was employed in
the Life Guard Division during the period extending from June 1st,
1941, to May 29th, 1942, be and the same is hereby retroactively
fixed as follows:
June 1, 1941, to Dec. 15, 1941 $ 42.00
Dec. 16, 1941 to May 29, 1942 44.00
SECTION 4. That notwithstanding the terms of Ord.in nee No. 604,
as amended, and the terms of Ordinance No. 677, the
salary rate per week of Claude Nwberry, a Life Guard
who was employed in the Life Guard Division during the period extending
from June 1st, 1941, to July 13th, 1942, be and the same is hereby
retroactively fixedas follows :
June 1, 1941, to Dec .. 15, 1941 $ 42.0,0
Dec.16, 1941; to July 13, 1942 44.00
SECTION 5. That the City Manager and the City Clerk be and they are
hereby authorized and directed to issue vouchers for and
to make payment to the employees heretofore mentioned in Sections 1,
2, 3 and 4 hereof, in amounts sufficient to cover the difference between
the amounts actually paid to said employees from June 1, 1941, to the
date upon which this Ordinance becomes effective and the amounts to
which each of said employees is entitled under the retroactive rates
fixed in said Sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 hereof.
SECTION 6. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon
its passage and posting as required by law.

1941, AND AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF THE DIFFERENCE
BETWEEN THE RATES FIXED BY THIS ORDINANCE AND THE AMOUNTS
ACTUALLY PAID THE SAID EMPLOYEES", having been passed and
adopted by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, has been posted by me in three conspicuous places
in the City of Miami Beach, one of which was at the door
of the City Hall in said City on the 17th day of June,
A. D. , 1943, and that said Ordinance remained posted for
a period of at least thirty days in accordance with the
requirements of the City Charter of the said City of Miami
Beach.
