SUBJECT: Building Department Permit Counter Streamlining
Over the last few years, the Building Department has been improving and streamlining the
process of obtaining a building permit. To continue with this effort, and in order to reach the goal
of a one hour walk-through processing, on August 21 51 we will be implementing the following
changes:
Ticket issuance (1st floor lobby)
Walk-through tickets (one process per ticket)
8:00 a.m. to 11 :30 a.m.
Walk-through plan review (mornings)
Residential & Condominium units (up to 15 pages)
Roofing & Sub permits (up to 15 pages)
Special events & City permits (up to 15 pages)
Homeowner Counter (1st floor lobby)
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (closed 12-1)
Designated counter for multi-permit functions at once
An e-mail address is being created to assist our residents, general contractors, permit expeditors
and professionals in providing suggestions and feedback with regards to Building Process
Innovations so that we may continue to expand and improve our process

In addition, we will be hosting an informational meeting on Thursday, August 17, 2017, 9:30am -
12 pm, at City of Miami Beach, 1700 Convention Center Drive, Commission Chambers, 3rd floor,
Miami Beach, Florida 33139. This meeting will be recorded and transmitted via MBTV, Channel
77. The Office of Communications will be noticing the meeting on social media, and the Building
Department will be inviting users of record as well. R.S.V.P. to
