LTC # 408-2017 LETTER TO COMMISSION TO: Mayor Philip Levine and Members of the City Commis~ion FROM: Jimmy L. Morales, City Manager .,.-..···-...__ DATE: August 8, 2017 SUBJECT: CITY HALL GARAGE (G7) -GATED PARKING EQUIPMENT TRANSITION The purpose of this L TC (Letter to Commission) is to provide an update regarding the transition of gated parking equipment at municipal parking garages, including the upcoming transition of gated parking equipment at the City Hall Garage commencing on Thursday, August 1 oth. The following municipal parking garages have transitioned to new gated parking equipment: • Municipal Parking Garage No. G2, 12th Street and Drexel Avenue • Municipal Parking Garage No. G3, 13th Street and Collins Avenue • Municipal Parking Garage No. G6, 42nd Street and Sheridan Avenue • Municipal Parking Garage No. G9, Pennsylvania Avenue Garage • Municipal Parking Garage No. G10, Sunset Harbor Garage • Municipal Parking Garage No. G1, ?1h Street and Collins Avenue (in progress). Historically, the month of August is the lowest parking demand period of the year at the City Hall Garage. Therefore, on Thurday, August 10th, the transition of gated parking equipment will commence. The transition plan schedules successive closures of each entry/exit lane, including booth removal, concrete work, electrical and data line connections. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the transition may be completed as early as the week of September 4th. In order to minimize disruption to our valued customers, two (2) lanes (one entry lane/one exit lane) will be maintained operational at all times through the transition. However, there will be brief periods of power outages for all three (3) lanes. Please expect brief delays at entry and/or exit. In order to further minimize any queuing and related delays, City Hall emplo*ee identification (ID) cards currently valid at the City Hall Garage will also be activated at the 1 ?1 Street Garage. Of course, City Hall employee identification cards will remain activated at both the City Hall Garage and 1 ?1h Street Garage through the transition period. We ask for your patience and apologize in advance for any inconvenience you may experience due to this transition.
