RESOLUTION NO. 6Q9
A.RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AS TO
THE CANVASS OF THE RETURNS OF A
SPECIAL ELECTION HELD SEPTEMBER
16, 1924
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
heretofore passed a resolution authorizing the issuance of bonds
of said City in the sums and for the purposes following:
4125,000. for the purpose of extending and developing its
water works system;
45,000. for the purpose of equipping and furnishing its fire
stations with hose and other fire fighting equipment and the install-
ing of fire alarm boxes ;
25,000. for the purpose of equipping its Sanitary Department
with barges, garbage cans and motor trucks;
4 7,000. for the purpose of purchasing motor trucks, surveying
instruments and other equipment for the Street and Sewer Departments
of said City;
415,000. for the purpose of erecting, on real estate now owned
by said City, a machine shop and storage building for the Street and
Sewer Departments of said City;
and in said resolution called a special election to be held in said
City on September 16, 1924, for the purpose of submitting said ques-
tions to the duly registered and qualified voters of said City, who
are freeholders therein and who are owners of and pay taxes on real
or personal property within said City.
NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That said City Council has this day publicly can-
vassed the returns of the aforesaid election, which canvass was made
solely, exclusively and entirely from the returns of certificates of
the inspectors and clergy: heretofore appointed to hold and conduct said
otimelection, and this City Council, lAfing as a canvassing board, has
has found that upon the question: "Shall the City of Miami Beach,
Florida., issue negotiable coupon bonds in the stun of 0125,000.
for the purpose of extending and developing its water works sys-
tem" 42 votes were cast, of Wiich 42 voters voted "Yes" and
voters voted "No".
That upon the question "Shall the City of Miami beach, elori-
da, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the stun of 05,000. for the
purpose of equipping and furnishing its fire stations with hose
and other fire fighting equipment, and the installing of fire alarm
boxes, " 42 votes were cast, of which 42 voters voted "Yes" and
voters voted "No".
.That upon the question "Shall the City of Miami beach r'lori-
da, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the sum of 025,000. for the
purpose of equipping its Sanitary Department with barges , garbage
cans and motor trucks" 42 votes were cast, of which 42 voters voted
"Yes" and voters voted "No".
That upon the question "Shall the City of Miami Beach,r'lorida,
issue negotiable coupon bonds in the sum of 0,000. for the purpose
of purchasing motor trucks, surveying instruments and other equip-
ment for the Street and Sewer Departments of said City", 42 votes
were cast, of which 42 voters voted "Yes" and
voters voted
"No„
That upon the question "Shall the City of Miami Beach, .N'lorida,
issue negotiable coupon bonds in the sum of 015,000. for the purpose
of erecting, on real estate now owned by said City, a machine shop
and storage building for the Street and Sewer Departments of said
City" , 39 votes were cast, of which 38 voters voted "Yes" and 1
voter voted "No".
and that a majority of the votes cat upon each of the aforesaid
questions was for the issuance of said bonds , and the said City
Council does hereb_;- declare the result of the election on each of
said questions to be for the issuance of the bonds in the aggregate

sum of 4177 ,000.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of September, A. D. , 1924.
