AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5 OF ORDINANCE
NO. 789 OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING OFFICIAL CLASSI-
FICATIONS OF POSITIONS IN THE CLASSIFIED
SERVICE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
AND PROVIDING COMPENSATION THEREFOR, PURSUANT
TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE ACT;
AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THIS
ORDINANCE AND REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH".
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 5 of Ordinance No. 789 of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, be and the same is here-
by amended to read as follows:
"Section 5. The City Manager is authorized to
approve compensation in excess of the maximums
prescribed in Section 1 of this Ordinance for
those employees who are assigned duties and re-
sponsibilities clearly above and beyond the
normal scope of their positions. Such excesses
shall be made only upon recommendation of the
Department Head involved and the Personnel Direc-
tor, and shall in no case exceed twenty (20) per
cent of the maximums prescribed for the classifi-
cation involved. "
SECTION 2: That this ordinance shall go into effect imme•-
diatel_y upon its passage and posting as required
by law.

having been passed and adopted by the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, has been posted by Te in three con-
spicuous places in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, one of
which was at the door of the City Hall in said City on the
2nd day of January, A. D. , 191+7, and that said Ordinance re-
mained posted for a period of at least thirty days in accord-
ance with the requirements of the City Charter of the said
City of Miami Beach.

the 3rd day of February, A. D. , 1947.
