AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PORTIONS OF SECTION 5 OF
ORDINANCE NO. 394 OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, IMPOSING LICENSES AND OTHER
TAXES ON PRIVILEGES, BUSINESSES, OCCUPATIONS AND
PROFESSIONS CARRIED ON AND ENGAGED IN WITHIN SAID
CITY, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE EXERCISING
OF SUCH PRIVILEGES OR CARRYING ON SUCH BUSINESSES,
OCCUPATIONS OR PROFESSIONS, WITHOUT A LICENSE OR
OTHER FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE PROVISIONS THEREOF".
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That that portion of Section 5 of Ordinance No. 394 of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, reading as follows:
"HOTELS containing ten (10) or more guest rooms
shall pay a minimum fee of 13 50
covering the first fifteen (15) rooms, plus
a fee of 1 25
for each additional room over 15.
ROOMING HOUSES OR LODGING HOUSES in which there
are more than three (3) beds for the use of occu-
pants, lodgers, roomers or boarders, or in which
more than six (6) persons in said rooming house or
lodging house are allowed to sleep, shall pay a
fee of 50 00
Any apartment house, hotel or any other place
serving meals or food requires a restaurant
license, as follows:
RESTAURANTS, DRUG STORES or OTHER ESTABLISHMENTS
serving food (permitting the operation of cafe,
cafeteria, public dining room, tearoom or
restaurant) with chairs or stools, each to count
as one seat, shall pay a minimum fee of . . . . 35.00
covering the first thirty-five (35) seats plus
a fee of 1 25
for each additional seat over 35."
Be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"HOTELS containing ten (10) or more guest rooms
shall pay a minimum fee of 35.00
covering the first fifteen (15) rooms, plus
a fee of 3.00
for each additional room over 15.
ROOMING HOUSES or LODGING HOUSES IN which there
are more than three (3) beds for the use of occu-
pants, lodgers, roomers or boarders, or in which
more than six (6) persons in said rooming house or
lodging house are allowed to sleep, shall pay a fee
of 5000

Section 2: That that portion of Ordinance No. 394 of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, reading as follows:
ELECTRIC LIGHT COMPANIES 3500.00
EXPRESS COMPANIES 67.50
GAS COMPANIES (Public Utility) 3500.00
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
ELECTRIC LIGHT COMPANIES 5000.00
EXPRESS COMPANIES 67.50
GAS COMPANIES 5000.00
Section 3: That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with are hereby repealed.
Section 4: That this ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon its
passage and posting as required by law.

THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, IMPOSING LICENSES AND OTHER TAXES
ON PRIVILEGES, BUSINESSES, OCCUPATIONS AND PROFESSIONS CARRIED ON
AND ENGAGED IN WITHIN SAID CITY, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE
EXERCISING OF SUCH PRIVILEGES OR CARRYING ON SUCH BUSINESSES, OCCU-
PATIONS OR PROFESSIONS, WITHOUT A 'LICENSE OR OTHER FAILURE TO COM-
PLY WITH THE PROVISIONS THEREOF", having been passed and adopted
by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, has been
posted by me in three conspicuous places in the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, one of which was at the door of the City Hall in said
City on the 6th day of August, A. D. , 1947, and that said Ordinance
remained posted for a period of at least thirty days in accordance
with the requirements of the City Charter of the City of Miami
Beach.
