AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 289 OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE
"ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA".
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 289 of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, be and the same is hereby amended
by adding thereto, athe end thereof, the following:
"SELF-SERVICE LAUNDRY: A business establishment
equipped with customer operated automatic washing
machines having a capacity per unit not exceeding
ten (10) pounds of dry clothing.
PRESSING CLUB: A business establishment with steam
clothes presses and with not more than one self-
contained dry cleaning unit which shall be screened
from the street by enclosures or other suitable
means and which has a capacity not exceeding thirty
(30) pounds of dry clothes and which uses a non-
combustible and non-flamable cleaning fluid."
SECTION 2: That Section 7 of Ordinance No. 289 of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"SECTION 7: USE REGULATIONS. "BA" Business District.
In the "BA" Business District no building or land
shall be used and no building shall be hereafter
erected, constructed, reconstructed or structurally
altered which is designed, arranged or intended to
be occupied or used for any purpose, unless otherwise
provided for in this ordinance, excepting for one or
more of the following uses:
1. Any use permitted in the "BAA" Business District.
2. Grocery stores.
3. Meat markets (except the handling of live poultry).
5. Mortuaries, only upon approval and permit of the
City Council of the City of Miami Beach.
6. Night Clubs, only upon approval and permit by
the City Council of the City of Miami Beach.
7. Locksmith shops, sharpening and grinding shops.
8. Shoe repairing shops, only upon special permit
of the City Council of the City of Miami Beach.
9. Boats - Charter, Livery, and For -Rent, upon
approval and permit of the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach.
10. Self -Service Laundries: Provided only domestic
type dryers are used and the machines shall be
screened from the street by a reception room,
office space, or other suitable means, so that the
machines shall not be in view of the public.
or any other similar enterprises or businesses, which
are not more obnoxious or detrimental to the welfare
of the particular community than the enterprises or
businesses herein enumerated."

SECTION 3: That Section 9 of Ordinance No. 239 of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, be and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"SECTION 9: USE REGUIATIONS. "BC" Business District.
In the "BC" Business District no building or land
shall be used and no building shall be hereafter
erected, constructed, reconstructed, or structurally
altered which is designed, arranged or intended to
be used or occupied for any purpose, unless otherwise
provided for in this ordinance, excepting for one
or more of the following uses:
1. Any use permitted in the "BB" Business District.
2. Garages for mechanical service.
3. Automobile storage, sale or "Cars for Hire" lots.
4. Tinsmiths, roofers or plasterers.
5. Laundries: including self-service laundries.
6. Dry cleaning plants and dyeing establishments.
7. Dance Halls.
8. Billiard parlors.
9. Painting and decorating shops.
10. Cabinet making, carpentry.
11. Wholesale salesrooms and storage rooms.
12. Amusement enterprises which shall include bowling
alleys, boxball alleys, skee-ball alleys, shooting
galleries, games and devices such as ball throwing
at figures, ball rolling, game racks, doll racks,
knife racks, hoop throwing and similar amusements,
and which aso shall include any place of business,
the predominant purpose of which is to furnish
amusement in return for anything of value and any
place of business in which there are located more
than five (5) games and/or devices of skill or
amusement regardless of the nature of the predomi-
nant business.
13. Cigar and cigarette making.
14. Artificial flower manufacture.
15. Leather goods manufacture, excluding tanning.
16. Metal working shops.
17. Bottling beverages.
18. Bakeries.
19. Barbecue stands.
20. Contractors plant and storage yards providing the
area used is enclosed by a building or by a masonry
wall not less than six (6) feet in height.
21. Paim shops.
22. Auction sales shall be permitted, only upon approval
and permit of the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach.

SECTION 4: That this ordinance shall go into effect immediately
upon its passage and posting as required by law.

entitled: "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 289 OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE "ZONING ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA", having been passed and
adopted by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
has been posted by me in three conspicuous places in the City of
Miami Beach, one of which was at the door of the City Hall in said
City on the 5th day of January, A. D. 1949., and that said Ordi-
nance remained posted for a period of at least Thirty days in
accordance with the requirements of the City Charter of the said
City of Miami Beach.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and affixed
