AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE UO. 789
ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORI DA, ESTABLISHING OFFIC IAL
CLASSIFICATIONS OF POSITIONS IN THE CLASSI-
FIED SERVICE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
AND PROVIDING COMPENSATION THEREFOR, PURSUANT
TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE ACT;
AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THIS
ORDINANCE AND REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH I'.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 2 of Ordinance No. 789 of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, be and the same is hereby mended
to read as follows:
"SECTION Z!--73 : Notwithstanding any of the r ovi Bions,
schedules, rates or items relating to maximum com-
pensation as set forth in Section 1 of this Ordinance,
there shall be paid as additional cost of living
compensation to each employee in the classified ser-
vice, other than emergency or casual employees, on
and after October 1st, 1951, additional wages or
salary based upon the following provisions:
a. There shall be added to the computed pay for
each employee on a monthly rate, Seventeen and
50100 ( 17.50) Dollars for each half month
period, less One and 40/100 (;;1.1.0) Dollars
for each normal work day in that period for
which no compensation is paid.
There shall be added to the computed pay for
each employee on a weekly rate Eight Dollars
and ten cents (0.10) for each weekly period,
less One Dollar and forty cents (:n,1.40)- for
each normal work day in that period for which
no compensation is paid.
c. There shall be added to the computed pay for
each employee on as hourly rate, Eight Dollars
and ten cents (08.10) for each weekly period,
less Seventeen and one-half cents ($ .175) for
each hour less than forty-six (46) for which
compensation is paid in that week.
The additional compensation provided for in this
section shall be applicable to all payments of
salary and w ages paid for service rendered on and
after October 1st, 1951. " -
SECTION 2: This ordina? ce shall take effect immediately upon its
passage and posting as required by law.

CLASSIFIED SERVICE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AND
PROVIDING COMPENSATION THEREFOR, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS
OF THE CIVIL SERVICE ACT; AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION
OF THIS ORDINANCE AND REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH' " ,
having been passed and adopted by the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, has been posted by me in three
conspicuous places in the City of Miami Beach, one of which was
at the door of the City Hall in said City on the 19th day of
December, A.D. 1951, and that said Ordinance remained posted
for a period of at least thirty days in accordance with the
requirements of the City Charter of the said City of Miami Beach.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed the official seal of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
on this the 31st day of January, A.D. 1952.
