AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 789,
ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING OFFICIAL
CLASSIFICATIONS OF POSITIONS IN THE CLASSI-
FIED SERVICE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING COMPENSATION THEREFOR,
PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE CIVIL
SERVICE ACT; AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINIS-
TRATION OF THIS ORDINANCE AND REPEALING
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH."
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1 : That Section 4 of Ordinance No . 789 of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, reading as follows :
"SECTION 4: For those employees occupying
classifications established in
Section 1 of this Ordinance, who have served
twenty (20) or more years with the City of
Miami Beach, the compensation maximum provided
herein may be exceeded by not more than five (5)
per cent. "
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows :
"SECTION 4: When an employee shall have
completed twenty (20) years'
/ employment he shall be paid, in addition
to the compensation which he receives by
virtue of the provision of Section 1 hereof,
a sum equal to five per cent (5%) of the
compensation so received, provided, however,
that periods of employment under the terms of
the Civil Service Act as a temporary, pro-
visional or original probationary employee
shall not be deemed employment within the
meaning of this Section. "
SECTION 2: This ordinance shall ;o into effect as of
April 1, 1956.

having been passed and adopted by the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, has been posted by me in three conspicuous
places in the City of Miami Beach, one of which was at the door of
the City Hall in said City on the 18 day of April , 1956
and that said Ordinance remained posted for a period of at least
thirty days in accordance with the requirements of the City Charter
of the said City of Miami Beach.
