Ordinance 1301 ORDINANCE NO. 1301
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 14 OF "THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
1950'; BY ADDING THREE NEW ADDITIONAL SECTIONS
THERETO, NUMBERED 14.13, 14.14 AND 14 .15 .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Chapter 14 of "The Code of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, 1950" be and the same is hereby
amended by adding three new additional sections thereto, the
same to be numbered and to read as follows :
"SECTION 14 .13: Every person operating a
hotel licensed as such by
the City of Miami Beach is hereby required
to keep and maintain, and to furnish immediately
and forthwith to the Chief of Police upon his
request, a complete, current roster of all persons
employed in such hotel as hotel security officers,
hotel detectives or watchmen, or occupying any
position, howsoever designated, the principal duty
of which consists of the safeguarding of the persons
or property of the guests of such hotel . Such
roster shall set forth the name and address of each
of such employees, the commencement date of such
employment, together with the employment history of
such employees for the period of five years immediately
preceding the date of the commencement of said
employment, together with such other information
concerning such employees as may be reasonably
required by the Chief of Police .
"SECTION 14 .14: Every person operating a hotel
licensed as such by the City of
Miami Beach, who employs any person as a hotel security
officer, hotel detective or watchman, or for any position,
howsoever designated, the principal duty of which
consists of the safeguarding of the property of the
guests of such hotel, is hereby required to immediately
notify the Chief of Police, in writing, of the fact
of such employment, the commencement date thereof and
the name and address of such employee, together with
the employment history of such employee for the period
of five years immediately preceding the date of
commencement of such employment, together with such
other information concerning such employee as may be
reasonably required by the Chief of Police .
"SECTION 14 .15: Every person operating a hotel licensed
as such by the City of Miami Beach,
prior to employing any person as a hotel security officer,
hotel detective or watchman, or for any position,
howsoever designated, the principal duty of which is,
or shall be, the safeguarding of the person and property
of the guests of such hotel, is hereby required to
obtain a written statement signed by such prospective
employee setting forth his employment history for a
period of five years last past and setting forth whether
or not such prospective employee has ever been convicted
of a felony, and if so, the date and place of such
conviction. The operator of such hotel shall keep and
maintain said written statement during the period of
employment of such employee and for a period of one year
after the termination thereof and shall produce the
same for examination upon request therefor by the Chief
of Police . "

SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: This ordinance shall go into effect immediately
upon its passage and posting as required by law.

"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 289, COMMONLY
KNOWN AS 'THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA"
having been passed and adopted by 'the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, has been posted by me in three conspicuous
places in the City of Miami Beach, one of which was at the door of
the City Hall in said City on the 18th day of June, 1958,
and that said Ordinance remained posted for a period of at least
thirty days in accordance with the requirements of the City Charter
of the said City of Miami Beach.
