AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DESIGNATING THAT
PORTION OF THE VENETIAN CAUSEWAY RIGHT-OF-WAY
WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH AS A MIAMI BEACH HISTORIC
PRESERVATION SITE; ADOPTING THE VENETIAN
CAUSEWAY HISTORIC SITE DESIGNATION REPORT AS
THE EVALUATION GUIDELINES FOR THE
AFOREMENTIONED SITE; PROVIDING FOR AN
AMENDMENT TO SECTION 3-2 OF ZONING ORDINANCE
NO. 1891 TO INCLUDE A DEFINITION OF VENETIAN
CAUSEWAY HISTORIC SITE DESIGNATION REPORT;
PROVIDING FOR AN AMENDMENT TO SECTION 21-3 (A)
OF ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1891 TO INCLUDE THE
VENETIAN CAUSEWAY AS A DESIGN REVIEW SITE;
PROVIDING FOR AN AMENDMENT TO SECTION 22-5 (C)
(4) OF ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1891 TO INCLUDE
THE VENETIAN CAUSEWAY AS A DESIGNATED HISTORIC
SITE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH:
Section 1: That Sub-Section 3-2 of Section 3 of Zoning Ordinance
No. 1891 entitled "Definitions" is hereby amended to read as
follows:
3-2 Venetian Causeway Historic Site Designation Report: The
document prepared by the City of Miami Beach Planning and
Zoning Department, adopted by the City Commission on
, 1989, containing the review guidelines
for the Venetian Causeway Historic Preservation site.
Section 2 : That Section 21-3 (A) of Zoning Ordinance No. 1891
entitled "Design Review Board" is hereby amended to read as
follows:
21-3 (A) Applicability

10. Venetian Causeway Historic Preservation Site: the public
right-of-way of that portion of the Venetian Causeway within
the corporate limits of the City of Miami Beach.
Section 3 : That Sub-Section(4) of Section 22-5 (C) of Zoning
Ordinance No. 1891 entitled Historic Preservation Designation is
hereby amended to read as follows:
22-5 (C) Historic Preservation Designation

4 . All sites and districts designated as historic sites shall be
delineated on the City's zoning map pursuant to Section 23-10 (C)
of this Ordinance as an Ovcrlav District. Such sites and districts
include:

Venetian Causeway Historic Preservation Site (HPS-3) : The
public right-of-way of the Venetian Causeway from the City
limit west of San Marino Island to the east end of the bridge
east of Belle Island.
Section 4 : INCLUSION IN ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1891
It is the intention of the City Commission, and it is hereby
ordained that the provisions of the Ordinance shall become and be
made a part of the City of Miami Beach Zoning Ordinance No. 1891
as amended; that the section of this Ordinance may be renumbered
or relettered to accomplish such intention; and that the word
"Ordinance" may be changed to "Section" or other appropriate word.
Section 5: REPEALER. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 6: SEVERABILITY. If any section, subsection, sentence,
clause, phrase, or portion of this Ordinance is, for any reason,
held invalid of unconstitutional by any court of competent
jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and
independent provision and such hold shall not affect the validity
of the remaining portions of this Ordinance.
Section 7 : EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall take effect ten
(10) days after adoption, on April 15 , 1989 .
