SUBJECr: Miami Bech Police Department Annual Holiday Toy Giveaway Event
This Letter to the IWlayor and Commission is to extend an invitation to attend the Miami Beach
Police Department's annual Holiday Toy Giveaway event on Saturday, December 16th from 9:00
a.m. till approximately noon in the Community Room on the first floor of the Police Station.
Each year, through the generosity of the Miami Beach community (private citizens, local
businesses, civic organizations such as the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and the
LGBT Visitors Burau, and many more), funds are donated to the Miami Beach Police Relief
Fund enabling the Miami Beach Police Department to purchase and provide toys to the children
of Miami Beach and provide a visit from Santa Clause. For many, this may be the only toy they
receive this year. 'he joy and happiness this event brings to these children make the event
extremely rewarding fr all those involved.
Last year, we were able to distribute toys to over 400 children from infants up to 12 year olds. In
addition to distributiing toys, the children will be entertained with face painting, popcorn, music
from a DJ, and a performance by a multi-jurisdictional police member band (In Blue), and many
other surprises.
Volunteers from throughout the community, and the Police Athletic League, will be working
together to ensure wve make this another fun-filled holiday event. We hope to see you there, and
wish you a very happy holiday season.
