SUaECr: MB Magazine Gets A Digital Upgra e
The city's award-winning publication, MB magazine, provides our residents with
essential information regarding our many city initiatives, programs and events across all
departments. According to the 2016 Community Satisfaction Survey, more residents and
businesses (53°/o resident, 38% business) stated that MB magazine is their source for
obtaining information about city government, issues and events.
Distributed to over 65,000 residents quarterly, this glossy publication leads far ahead of
other regional and national government publications, providing a plethora of columns
and feature articles with eye-catching designs.
For over a decade, MB magazine has been available online to readers using the digital
platform Scribd. Though Scribd was a good fit initially, there were many challenges for
our readers including needing a subscription. Hearing concerns and wanting to better
meet the needs of our residents, the Office of Marketing and Communications began
researching other alternatives. We are excited to say that beginning with this fall 2017
issue, the publication has officially upgraded to using Issuu — a more practical and
innovative digital platform.
Top publications such as The Knot, Modern Luxury and millions of other magazines,
newspapers and catalogs are featured on this leading online portal. The program
enables you to customize the look and feel of your publication with a variety of
customization tools — ultimately, ensuring our publication meets the iconic Miami Beach
brand. The platform makes for easier social media sharing capabilities, including unique
links for both e-newsletter and social media platforms, as well as a GIF generator and
other conversions that allow for a more dynamic promotion. Website embedding with an
HTMLS full-screen reader is the most rewarding feature and will be compatible with the
new city homepage.
The practical design of the shareable, full screen reader provides a flipbook view,
making for an easier and more elegant design for readers to open on their computer,
smartphones and tablets. Compatible across both Mac and PC platforms, readers can
also opt to download the publication or simply flip through the issue without having to
login.
We are committcl to providing excellent public service and safeiy to all who live, work and play in our vibrant, ropical, historic communiiy
In addition, this new software allows for links to pages that include both websites and
videos. This feature allows for extension on city campaigns and general advertising. For
example, the "Hurricane Guide" advertisement will be able to link to safety PSAs, as well
as the emergency management homepage. Linking their social media or website directly
to their designated page in the magazine, advertisers will now receive an added bonus
when deciding to advertise with the City of Miami Beach. Real time analytics will also
give further insight on general viewership, demographics and more.
The new platform will extend readerships as it targets not only tech-savvy residents, but
prospective visitors and businesses in our city who do not receive the publication in the
mail. The program will also bring additional revenue to the city with its extended
advertising capabilities. You can view the new online version of the MB magazine by
