FIRST AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AND
THE SALVATION ARMY, A GEORGIA CORPORATION
This Amendment to the Agreement, dated December 20, 2000, by anci between the CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, a Florida municipal corporation, having its principal ;office at 1700 Convention
Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida, 33.139, hereinafter referred to as the "City", and THE
SALVA nON ARMY, A Georgia Corporation, having offices at 1907 N.W. 38th Street, Miami,
Florida 33135, hereinafter referred to as the "Provider", is entered into this 20th day of September,
2001.
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS, on December 20, 2000, through Resolution Number 2000-24214, the Mayor
and City Commission authorized the Mayor and City Clerk to execute an Agreement between the
City and the Provider, for HOMELESS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, in the amount of ONE-
HUNDRED AND TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($110,000), to provide EMERGENCY
SHELTER BEDS TO THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH HOMELESS POPULATION; and
WHEREAS, implementation of the Agreement was delayed administratively by the
Salvation Army, resulting in approximately $30,000 being available at the end of the contract term
for continuation of the Project; and
WHEREAS, the City believes that continuation of this Project is of vital importance to the
well being of the community and has identified an additional $85,000, for a total of $115,000
available for continuation of this Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the parties now wish to amend the aforementioned Agreement to extend the
expiration date to September 30, 2002; and
WHEREAS, this Amendment does not change the purpose, scope of services, location or
beneficiaries of the activities as reflected in the Agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Agreement is hereby amended as follows:
(1) Subject to the approval of the Mayor and City Commission, the Project shall continue
as operational as Of September 20, 2001, and shall be completed by September 30,2002.
The term specified herein may be subject to any applicable term restrictions and
limitations as may be otherwise prescribed herein.

(2) Section 3: Compensation is hereby amended to include an additional $50,000 from the
FY 2000-2001 City Manager's Discretionary Funds, $35,000 from FY 2000/01 North
Beach Quality of Life funds, together with the unspent $30,000 from FY2000/0l
Salvation Army Agreement, for a total of $115,000 available for continuation of this
Agreement, to be used in furtherance of the Services to be performed by Provider.
(3) All other terms and conditions of the Agreement between the City and the Provider shall
remain the same in full force and effect.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this First Amendment to the
Agreement to be executed by their duly authorized officials on the day first above indicated.

Any agency, governm........' or private, which.enters into a contractlia1 or cooperative
relationship with The Salvation Army' sh~uld be advised that:

2. All programs of The Salvation Army are administered by Salvation Army
Officers. who are ministers of the GospeL

4. The SalVation Army's provision offood, shelter, health services, cOlU.lSCling,
mid other physical, social, emotional, psychological and spiritual aid, is
given on the basis of need, available resburces and established program
policies. .'
Organizations contracting and/or cooperating with The Salvation Army may be assured
that because The Salvation Army ~ rooted in Christian compassion and is governed by
Judeo-Christian ethics. The Salvation Army",vill strictly observe all provisions ofits
contracts and agreements.
