RESOLUTION NO. 99-23162
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RETROACTIVELY APPROVING A
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH FLORIDA
INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY, IN THE AMOUNT OF $23,500, FOR THE
PREPARATION OF AN ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY; SAID
AGREEMENT P ARTL Y SUBSIDIZED WITH CONTRIBUTIONS FROM
THE PRIVATE SECTOR, AND WITH THE CITY'S TOTAL
CONTRIBUTION THEREIN TO BE IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,000;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE TO PREP ARE SAID
AGREEMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO
EXECUTE SAME.
WHEREAS, the Mayor's Economic Council, in cOrUunction with the Miami Beach Chamber
of Commerce, has asked Florida University to conduct an Economic Impact Study for use in
evaluating and making recommendations with regard to the City's economy; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the study in the amount of $23,500, is being subsidized in part with
contributions from the private sector, with the City's total contributions to be $2,000; and
WHEREAS, the Administration would recommend that the Mayor and City Commission
retroactively approve an Agreement, authorize the City Attorney's Office to prepare said Agreement,
and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute same.
NOW THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Mayor and City Commission of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida: that the City of Miami Beach retroactively approve a Professional Services
Agreement with Florida International University, in the amount of $23,500, for the preparation of
an Economic Impact Study; said Agreement partly subsidized with contributions from the private
sector, and with the City's total contribution therein to be in the amount of $2,000; authorizing the
City Attorney's Office to prepare said Agreement and authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to
execute same.

ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY
As you know, the Mayors Economic Council, in conjunction with the Miami Beach
Chamber of Commerce, has asked Florida International University to conduct an
Economic Impact Study for use in evaluating and making recommendations with regard
to the City's economy. Professor Maria Willumsen will be presenting the findings to the
Economic Council on May 20. The study, at a cost of$23,500, is being subsidized with
contributions from the private sector as outlined below:
