A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ENCOURAGING AND
RECOMMENDING THAT THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE CONTINUE
REGULATION OF THE TALENT AGENCY INDUSTRY.
WHEREAS, the City of Mami Beach is a vital and integral part of both the Florida and
Dade County entertainment industry; and
WHEREAS, in 1995 the film and entertainment industry enhanced the economy of Dade
County by over two hundred twelve million dollars ($212,000,000.00) and, specifically, the City
of Miami Beach by over fifty eight million dollars ($58,000,000.00); and
WHEREAS, deregulation of the talent agency industry would have a negative impact on
Florida, Dade County, and the City of Miami Beach entertainment industry; and
WHEREAS, the talent agency industry is strongly opposed to deregulation of its
industry and is actively working to stop any attempts at deregulation.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby encourage and recommend that the Florida Legislature continue regulation
of the talent agency industry.
