W~th financial assistance from the Department of Community Affairs, the City is sponsoring a sedes
of community workshops specifically focusing on the businesses and residents located in the "5t~
Street Corridor.' Topics include economic revitalization, public safety, transportation, housing,
environment, parks, schools, infrastructure, preservation, job training, senior and youth services,
and aesthetics. Through these workshops the City's departments are committed to working
together with area residents and businesses to develop work programs and funding strategies that
will accommodate the specific needs and desires of the area.
The first ~5~ Street Corddor Revitalization Workshop" was held on October 23, 2001 at Monty's
Seafood House focusing on public safety and economic revitalization. The South Florida Regional
Planning Council's Institute for Community Collaboration has been retained to organize, design
agendas for and facilitate these workshops. Each workshop will be followed by a Report of
Proceedings.
