PUBLIC SHOWING OF STOLEN JEWELRY
Date: February 14, 2002
This Letter to the Commission is to advise of a showing of stolen property that will be
conducted by the Police Department.
Over the last months, our Police Department arrested a suspect in a number of burglaries
committed in Miami Beach and throughout Miami-Dade County. As a result of his arrest,
the Police Department recovered a large amount of stolen jewelry with an estimated total
value of $200,000.
On Saturday, March 2, 2002, the Police Department will display the recovered jewelry. The
display will take place in the Police Headquarters Community Room from 9AM to 12PM.
The Police Department will screen the persons attending in order to insure they are the
rightful owners. When someone identifies his/her jewelry, it will be documented and the
jewelry will be returned to them at the conclusion of the criminal proceedings.
The Police Department will attempt to notify as many persons as possible through the
media before the date in a concerted effort to afford as many persons as possible the
opportunity to recover their property.
The investigation is continuing and it is hoped more suspects are arrested and additional
prop/~ty is recovered. A ~
