2002-3358 ORD " ' " ORDINANCE NO. 2002-3358 AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE MIAMI BEACH CITY CODE ENTITLED "ADMINISTRATION," BY AMENDING ARTICLE III THEREOF ENTITLED "AGENCIES, BOARDS, AND COMMITTEES"; BY AMENDING D",lSION 9 THEREOF ENTITLED "HEALTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE"; BY AMENDING SECTION 2-81(d) ENTITLED "COMPOSITION" BY AMENDING THE MEMBERSIDP OF THE BOARD TO ELIMINATE A MEMBER FROM THE MIAMI HEART INSTITUTE AND ADDING AN ADDITIONAL BOARD MEMBER WHICH MAY BE A REPRESENTATIVE FROM AN ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY; PROVIDING FOR REPEALER; CODIFICATION; SEVERABILITY, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Miami Heart Institute has merged into the Mount Sinai Medical Center therefore eliminating the member of the Health Advisory Committee ("Committee") from the Miami Heart Institute; and WHEREAS, due to the increased needs of the community relative to health related issues, an additional member should be added to the Committee to enable a reoresentative to be selected from an assisted living facility. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY ORDAINED BY THflMA YOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 2-81(d) OF THE ClTY CODE. A. That Section 2-8 I (d) of Division 9, Article III, Chapter 2 of the Miami Beach City Code is hereby amended as follows: CHAPTER 2. ADMINISTRATION * * * ARTICLE III. Health Advisory Committee * * * Sec. 2-81 (d) Composition. * * * (1) Two three members shall be the chief executive officers (CEOs) or their designated administrators from each of the following local hospitals: Mount Sinai Medical Center and South Shore Hospital. and Mi81lli Hem Ingtitutc * * * (3) Two 6fte member.s shall be 8ft administrator~ from an adult congregate living facility (ACLF); and/or an assisted livin~ facility (ALF). SECTION 2. REPEALER. That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 3. INCLUSION IN CITY CODE. It is the intention of the City Commission, and it is hereby ordained'that the provisions of this Ordinance shall become and be made part of the Code of the City of Miami Beach as amended; that the sections of this Ordinance may be renumbered or relettered to accomplish such intention; and that the word "ordinance" may be changed to "section" or other appropriate word. SECTION 4. SEVERABILITY. If any section, subsection, clause or provision of this Ordinance is held invalid, the remainder shall not be affected by such invalidity. 2 . .... .'; . . . . . . SECTION 5. BACKGROUND The purpose of the Health Advisory Committee is to afford opportunities for private sector input and recommendations for future development of health care in our community. The Committee shall hold regular meetings to review and advise the Administration and the Commission regarding all matters relating to the efficient and balanced health care for the citizens and visitors of the City. Article III, Division 9, Section 2-81 (d) of the Miami Beach City Code provides for composition of the Health Advisory Committee. The merger of the Miami Heart Institute and Mount Sinai Medical Center requires a change in the composition of the Health Advisory Committee. Due to the increased needs of the community relative to health related issues, an additional member should be added to the Committee which may be a representative from an assisted living facility.
