Resolution 1305 mew .410 man RESOLUTION NO. 1305 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OP MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That as to the application to the War Depart- ment of the United States permits No. 1854, serial iso. 18-26, to construct bulkhead;, to dredge and fill, forming an island in Biscayne . ay at a point approximately four and one quarter miles north of Collins Bridge, Miami Beach, Florida, as to which a public hearing will be held in the City Council Chambers of the City .dall at Miami, Florida, at 10 o ' clock A. M. , March 11, 1926 , this City Council desires to protest against the granti _ of such a permit for the following reasons : (a) The proposed island is to be farther into the Bay from a projection of land already extending far into the Bay so that it will likely interfere with and cause inconvenience to navigation and hinder the ebb and flow of tide so as to cause unsanitary conditions to residents residing in that vicinity. (b ) Because the addition of further or other islands in the North end of Biscayne Bay in the vicinity of the proposed cite of island, not only makes it more inconvenient for navi- gation, but detracts from the beauty of the Bay and the islands already existing and ones for which permits have been granted. (c) Because it is not believed that the applicant in- tends in good faith to form an island, but to leave the bottom of the bay in its present shallow condition, whereas if other parties are permitted to remove the earth from the proposed city, it would facilitate and aid navigation, sanitary conditions and the beauty of the Bay. Section 2. That C. A. Renshaw as City Manager, Louis F. Snedigar as Mayor , John H. Levi, as President of the City Council and G. E. McCaskill, as City A to 'ne y, present the aloresa* 4 elution, with such additional objections as to them may seem proper to the granting of said permit.
