SUBJECT: Building Department Definition of Co truction Trade Values
To provide uniform application of permitting fees, the Building Department is providing a clear
definition of the trade values that should make up the building construction cost for purposes of
calculating the permit fees. The Building Department requires notarized contract signed by the
property owner and the contractor detailing the construction cost, this value is used to assess the
fees.
The values for Building Permit Fee assessment will consist of: foundations, concrete and
masonry shell work, wood framing and wood structural work, structural steel, insulation and
envelope thermal and moisture protection, interior non - decorative (life safety) doors and non -
decorative hardware, drywall partitions and drywall ceilings, and paint. Assessed value should
not to include the value of sub - permits.
Permit fees for the following trades and /or sub- permits will be assessed as follows *:
1. Plumbing
2. Mechanical
3. Electrical
4. Fire Alarm
5. Low Voltage
6. Window /Door Permits
*minimum acceptable by code, not including any decorative finish or cost of fixtures
Non- Building Department related fees:
Elevator: not including any specialty finishes, cabs, conveying systems without decorative
finish or fixtures
Fire Sprinkler: not including any decorative finish or fixtures
