A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, APPROVING AN ADDITIONAL
APPROPRIATION INTO WORK ORDER NUMBER2078
IN BOND FUND 481 FROM PARKING REVENUE
BOND FUND No. 481, ESTIMATED IN THE AMOUNT
OF $11,500; INCLUDED IN THE REQUESTED
APPROPRIATION IS $8,000 FOR ADDITIONAL
ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING WORK, AND $3,500
FOR CONSTRUCTION CHANGE ORDERS FOR THE
13TH STREET PARKING GARAGE RENOVATION.
WHEREAS, on February 17, 1999 the Mayor and City Commission awarded a
contract to Bermello, Ajamil and Partners; in the amount of $23,760, for architectural
design and engineering services for the renovation of the 13th Street Garage;
including the renovation of the elevators, office area, ticket dispensing area, painting
and lighting; and
WHEREAS, in order to reflect current conditions it became necessary to revise
the architectural plans which were developed in 1994; and
WHEREAS, the cost ofthis additional architectural service is estimated to be
$8,000; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission at its September 27, 2000
meeting awarded a contract to Regosa Engineering, Inc., in the amount of$749,000,
for the renovation of the elevators, office area, ticket dispensing, painting and new
lighting at the 13th Street Garage; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach Building Department has required that an
air conditioning system be installed in the elevator control room; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the air conditioning system will increase the total cost
of the construction contract, in the estimated amount of $3,500; and
WHEREAS, the Administration recommends approving the additional
appropriation, in the estimated amount of $11,500, for additional architectural
services and additional construction work.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission approve and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to approve an
additional appropriation into Work Order Number 2078 in Bond Fund 481 from
Parking Revenue Bond Fund No. 481, estimated in the amount of $11,500; included
in the requested appropriation is $8,000 for additional architectural/engineering work,
and $3,500 for construction change orders for the 13th Street Parking Garage
renovation.

control room at an estimated cost of $3,500. The Administration recommends adopting the resolution.

ANALYSIS
Funding in the amount of $11 ,500 is available from Parking Revenue Bond
Fund 481.
On February 17, 1999, the Mayor and City Commission awarded a contract to Bermello,
Ajamil and Partners in the amount of $23,760 for architectural design and engineering
services for the renovation of the 13th Street garage. Subsequent to that date the following
additional architectural work was required; design of the ornament on top of the roof and
elimination of the emergency generator and elimination of the fire alarm system. In order
to revise the architectural plans that were developed in 1994 to reflect current conditions, it
was recommended that the contract be amended by an additional $8,000.
The Mayor and City Commission at its September 27, 2000 meeting awarded a contract to
Regosa Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $749,000 for the renovation of the elevators,
office area, ticket dispensing area, painting and new lighting at the 13th Street Garage. As
a result of additional work as ordered by the City of Miami Beach Building Department to
install an air conditioning system in the elevator control room, it is recommended that the
contract be amended to include an additional $3,500.00 in change order work. If
approved, this action will allow for the completion of the project within 30 days of said
approval.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission
approve and authorize an appropriation of $11,500 into work order 2078 from Parking
Revenue Bond Fund 481. Included in the requested appropriation is $8,000 for additional
architectural/engineering work and $3,500 for a construction change order for the 13th
Street Garage Renovation.
