AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 29 OF THE CODE OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR
A RESERVE POLICE FORCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND
STANDARDS, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Chapter 29 of the Code of the City of Miami Beach be
and the same is hereby amended by changing Sections 29.3, 29.4 and
29.5 thereof to read as follows:
Sec. 29.3. Aex4.I+ay Reserve police force -
Created; responsibility of chief of police;
duties of members; uniforms, insignia, arms,
etc., of members.
An aex+14afy A Reserve Police Force is hereby
created and established. The Chief of Police
shall, under the direction of the City Manager,
and subject to such rules and regulations as
shall be promulgated by the Chief of Police, and
approved by the City Manager, appoint and
exercise general superintendence over seep
aexil4afy said reserve police force, and shall
be responsible for the good, order and
discipline of the same. Members of the
aex4 4afy reserve police force shall have such
duties and privileges as the Police Chief, as
approved by the City Manager, shall deem
appropriate. Every aex44 aty reserve police
force shall wear such uniform, badge, insignia
of office, and carry such arms as the Chief of
Police may, by appropriate rule and regulation,
from time to time prescribe. Such personnel
shall be paid a One Dollar per year salary.
Sec. 29.4. Same- Training of members; oath.
No person shall be named or designated as an
aexil+ary a reserve police officer except upon
completion of a satisfactory training course as
the Chief of Police, with the approval of the
City Manager, shall prescribe.-, as well as
qualifying under the requirements of Chapter
943 Florida Statutes and the standards set by
the Police Standards and Training Commission of
the Department of Law Enforcement, State of
Florida. Before assuming the duties of office,
all members of the aex414ary reserve police
force shall subscribe to the oath prescribed by
the provisions of General State Law.
Sec. 29.5. Same- Public liability insurance.
The City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to exercise all such administrative
powers as may be required for the purpose of

providing appropriate public liability insur-
ance for the City and for all members of eseh
aux+l+afy said reserve police force.
SECTION 2: REPEALER. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in con-
flict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall take effect 10 days
after adoption, on December 26, 1981.
