SECTION 1. That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 789 is hereby amended to read as
follows :
"SECTION 1. The following titles shall constitute the
Classification Plan, and the titles together
with the prescribed pay schedules shall constitute the Compensation Plan,
both as provided for in the Civil Service Act and the Personnel Rules, for
the Classified Service of the City of Miami Beach, Florida. Compensation
in the Classified Service effective October 1, 1974 shall not be less than
the prescribed minimum nor more than the prescribed maximum. except -as

Note: Employees in this part shall not be eligible to receive benefits under any other part or
section of this ordinance.

SECTION 2. That Section 1. 1 of Ordinance No. 789 hereby is amended to read
as follows:
"Any employee who, on September 30, 1973, was entitled
to a greater maximum rate of pay than provided by this
ordinance, shall retain entitlement to such maximum
rate of pay plus any adjustment made to persons in
his classification on October 1, 1973.
Any adjustment authorized by this section will be
proportionally reduced if an employee works less than
40 hours per week."
SECTION 3. That Section 1.2 of Ordinance No. 789 hereby is amended to read as
follows:
"The pay rate steps as set forth in Tables A,C,D,E,F,G,:1,I, and K
attached hereto and made a part hereof, shall be the basis
for pay ranges to which classifications in Section 1 of
this Ordinance are assigned."
SECTION 4. That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 789 hereby is amended to read as
follows:
"The City Manager is hereby authorized, effective October 1,
1973, to approve payments of Clothing Allowance for Detectives,
and for other officers of the uniformed force who are regularly
detailed to perform their duties in plain clothes, and who are
specifically recommended for such allowance by the Police
Chief. Such clothing allowance shall not exceed Forty
Dollars ($40.00) per month. The City Manager is authorized
to approve payment of a uniform allowance for employees in
the classification of Industrial Nurse not to exceed Ten
Dollars ($10.00) per month.
The City Manager is hereby authorized, effective October 1,
1974, to approve payment for uniform cleaning and maintenance
for members of the uniformed division of the Police Department,
who are specifically recommended for such allowance by the
Police Chief. Such allowance shall not exceed Twenty Dollars
($20.00) per month.
The City Manager is hereby authorized, effective February 1,
1973 to approve payatents for uniform cleaning and maintenance
for employees assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau of the
Fire Department and who are specifically recommended for such
allowance by the Fire Chief. Such allowance shall not exceed
Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) per month."
SECTION 5. That Section 9 of Ordinance No. 789 hereby is amended to read as
follows:
"The City Manager, upon recommendation of the Department Head
and the Director of Personnel, may authorize compensation not
more than five percent (57) in excess of the maximums prescribed
for those employees who are designated as "lead workers" within
a given work section of the City; except that employees in
the classification of Equipment Serviceman who are designated
as "lead workers" may be authorized up to ten percent (10%)
in excess of the maximum rate for employees in that classification."

SECTION 6. That Section 10 of Ordinance No. 789 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Effective October 1, 197 ', employees in classifications who
have contractual agreement for a shift differential shall
receive a shift differential of up to thirteen cents (13 ) per
hour for work performed on shifts beginning after 3:00 p.m.
and at or before 11:00 p.m. ; and a shift differential of
seventeen cents (17c) per hour for work performed on shifts
beginning after 11:00 p.m. and before 6:30 a.m. Effective
October 1, 1975, the shift differentials, as herein provided,
shall be fourteen cents (14c) and eighteen cents (18c) per
hour respectively.
The City Manager, upon recommendation of the Department Head
and the Personnel Director, may authorize a shift differentialof up
-to thirteen cents (13c) per hour to employees in other classi-
fications for work performed on shifts beginning after 3:00 p.m. ,
and at or before 11:00 p.m. ; and a shift differential of
seventeen cents (17c) per hour to employees in other classifi-
cations for work performed on shifts beginning after 11:00 p.m. ,
and before 6:30 a.m. Effective October 1, 1975, such shift
differentials shall become seventeen cents (17c) and eighteen
cents (18c) per hour respectively."
SECTION 7. That Section 11 of Ordinance no. 789 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Effective October 1, 1974, employees in bargaining unit
classifications who work in excess of forty (40) hours
per week and are entitled to such in accordance with the
Fair Labor Standards Act shall receive one and one-half
(l2) times their straight time hourly rate of pay for all
hours worked in excess of forty hours.
The City Manager, upon recommendation of the Department Head
and the Personnel Director, may authorize overtime pay to
employees in other classifications and are entitled to such
in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act who work in
excess of forty (40) hours per week at the rate of one and
one-half (12) times their straight time hourly rate of pay for
all hours worked in excess of forty (40) hours."
SECTION 8. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be
and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 9. This ordinance shall become effective as of October 1, 1974.
SECTION 10. This ordinance is hereby adopted as an emergency ordinance under
the provisions of Section 9 of the City Charter.
