Resolution 1813 mem new
RESOLUTION NO. 113
WHEREAS after due investigation the City Council of Miami
Beach is convinced that one Al Capone who has recently arrived
in this City is an undesirable resident, and by reason of his
reputed connections with Chicago gangsters and underworld con-
stitutes a menace to the Community. And in the opinion of the
said City Council it would be to the best interests of this com-
munity that characters of such repute be not permitted to identi-
fy themselves with the community as a resident therein, and,
WHEREAS, by the representation of many prominent citizens
of this community it appears that said feeling is unanimous among
the best citizenry of our City, and,
WHEREAS, on information supplied us we are deeply apprehen-
sive of a serious condition which would result from a residency of
a character of such repute, together with a strong possibility of
an underworld condition unleashed upon our community which would
prove a tremendous detriment, both from a moral and monetary as-
pect, and would retard a recognized condition of progress that
now exists.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the said City Council of
Miami Beach, Florida, that we endorse the position taken by the
citizenry of this City; that it will take all such steps as may
be within its power and cooperate in every way possible with all
law enforcement officers of Dade County and of the various muni-
cipalities of this area to the end that the said Al Capone may
no longer be a resident of this community.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 27th day of June, A. D. , 1928.
