AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1613,
REGULATING THE GRANTING OF ANNUAL LEAVE, SICK
LEAVE AND OTHER LEAVE FOR UNCLASSIFIED
EMPLOYEES; AMENDING THE CONDITIONS GOVERNING
THE SAME; PROVIDING A METHOD FOR ELIMINATING
VACATION LIMITATIONS; AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE
DONATION OF ANNUAL LEAVE AND SICK LEAVE;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 2 - Paragraph 8 be amended to read as follows:
8. Length of Vacation

(e) Time of Vacations*
(a) Time of Vacations:
Vacations shall be granted at a time suitable to the
immediate superior and convenient to his/her work
schedule as far as practicable.
SECTION 2: That Section 2 be amended by adding Paragraph 14 to read as
follows:
14. Donation of Annual Leave and Sick Leave
In those instances where a permanent full-time employee is
affected by a non-job related illness which causes the total
depletion of their annual leave and sick leave, other City
employees within the department may donate annual and/or
sick time to that particular employee's leave balance.
However, this time may only be donated as long as the time is
equal to or more than the hourly rate of the employee who is
ill.
SECTION 3: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be
and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall become effective 10 days after adoption on
November 26 , 1983.
