SUBJECT: PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO UNCLASSIFIED SALARY ORDINANCE NO. 1605
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends that the City Commission adopt this Ordinance on
second reading establishing the classification of Chief Structural Plans
Examiner.
BACKGROUND:
The first reading of this Ordinance took place on February 2, 1994.
The Building Division Director requested the establishment of the classification
of Chief Structural Plans Examiner in order to comply with changes to the South
Florida Building Code. The changes require that a more technical and thorough
review of building plans be conducted by a structural engineer for adequacy of
structural design and materials before a building permit is issued.
ANALYSIS:
Establishing the classification of Chief Structural Plans Examiner would provide
for an appropriate title and salary range for the position that will review
building plans for structural adequacy to comply with amendments to the South
Florida Building Code. In addition to structural plans processing, the incumbent
will be responsible for the overall plans processing section, Road Impact Fee
Analysis, and filing cases with the Unsafe Structures Board.
CONCLUSION:
It is recommended that this amendment to Ordinance No. 1605 be adopted.
