SUBJECT: North Beach Log Cabin, 8128 Col Os Avenue — Deconstruction Progress Update
On October, 18, 2017, City Commission approved $274,000 for the dismantling, removal and
offsite storage of the salvageable components of the Log Cabin structure located at 8128 Collins

hired the same firm to perform onsite monitoring during the project.
Team Contracting was retained to execute the project given the company's experience with
historic restoration projects. The Contractor began staging on November 201h and the
deconstruction began on 12/07/17, following permit issuance on 12/06/17.
To date, the Contractor has:
- Removed and stored all interior and exterior doors, siding and interior millwork (cabinets,
door frames, etc.)
- Removed and stored all roof members
- Removed and stored all interior partitions
- Removed and stored all serviceable floorboards
- Removed and discarded the plywood subfloor
- Shored the coral rock fireplace
Douglas Wood, PE and/or DWA staff engineers visit the site regularly and without prior notice to
inspect salvaged materials and monitor progress.
At current, Douglas Wood and a Keith Kleppinger of Russell Building Movers are deliberating on
the best method for the removal and storage of the coral rock fireplace.
The Contractor anticipates project completion by December 29, 2017.
