A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH TO
RETROACTIVELY ACCEPT A DONATION FROM THE BETSY
SOUTH BEACH, IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,800, FOR HOTEL
ROOM NIGHTS FOR THE CITY MANAGER AND ESSENTIAL
CITY STAFF WHO REPORTED TO WORK DURING
HURRICANE IRMA.
WHEREAS, from Thursday, September 7 through Monday, September 11, 2017,
Hurricane Irma targeted Florida as a category 3 hurricane; and
WHEREAS, in preparation for the hurricane, the City of Miami Beach evacuated its
residents and most City employees to safety; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and essential City staff were asked to report to work during
the storm; and
WHEREAS, City staff obtained a donation of hotel room nights, valued at $2,800, from
The Betsy South Beach for the City Manager and essential City staff working during Hurricane
Irma; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends that the. City Commission approve and
authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to retroactively accept this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby approve and authorize the City of Miami Beach to retroactively accept a
donation from The Betsy South Beach, in the amount of $2,800, for hotel room nights for the
City Manager and essential City staff who reported to work during Hurricane Irma.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 13th day of December, 2017.

RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the resolution.
ANALYSIS
From Thursday, September 7 through Monday, September 11, 2017, Hurricane Irma targeted Florida
as a category 3 hurricane. In preparation for the hurricane, the City of Miami Beach evacuated its
residents and most City employees to safety. The City Manager and essential City staff were asked
to report to work during the storm.
City staff obtained a donation of hotel room nights, valued at $2,800, from The Betsy South Beach
for the City Manager and essential City staff working during Hurricane Irma.
CONCLUSION
The City Administration recommends that the City Commission approve and authorize the City
Manager, or his designee, to retroactively accept this donation from The Betsy South Beach, in the
amount of $2,800, for hotel room nights for the City Manager and essential City staff who reported to
work during Hurricane Irma.
