Morales, City Manager DATE: December 21, 2017 SUBJECT: CIP Monthly Construction Projects Update Below please find the monthly update for active City of Miami Beach construction projects under the purview of the Office of Capital Improvement Projects. Altos Del Mar Park Scope: Park Improvements include new landscape, irrigation, site lighting, volleyball courts, walkways, terraced lawn, accessible playground, restroom, and storage facility. Status: Commission approved award to West Construction on October 18, 2017. Contract has been executed and NTP has been issued. Construction is anticipated to commence January 2018. Beach Lifeguard Towers Replacement Scope: Construction of 35 lifeguard towers. Status: Construction began March 2015. Nineteen towers have been completed and placed at their permanent location. Three additional towers have been completed and will be placed at their permanent location January 2018. Construction of an additional seven towers is scheduled for completion Spring 2018 bringing the total to be completed to 29. Beachwalk II — Phase 2 Scope: Construction of an on -grade ADA compliant pedestrian paver walkway running from 3rd ST to 5th ST, with bollard lights, turtle friendly lighting, landscaping and irrigation. Status: Contract for construction services was awarded to West Construction at the December 2017 commission meeting. Contract is currently being executed. Construction is anticipated to begin February 2018 and is scheduled for substantial completion November 2018. Biscayne Point Island Entry Scope: Beautification project of the neighborhood entryway to Biscayne Point Island. Status: Concrete curbs and sidewalks have been completed. Landscaping and guardhouse renovation has commenced. Project is 70% complete overall and scheduled for completion January 2018. Central Bayshore South Neighborhood Improvements Scope: Neighborhood improvements bounded by 34th St. to the north, Pine Tree Dr. to the east, 28 St. to the south and Prairie Ave to the west and Meridian Ave from 28 St. to Dade Blvd. Status: Water main installation is ongoing and 95% complete. Drainage design is currently at 75%. At the December 2017 commission meeting the project was referred to the Sustainability and Resiliency Committee for review. Espanola Way Bollards Scope: Installation of protective bollards at each end of Espanola Way (Washington Avenue and Drexel Avenue). Status: Commission approved a supplemental work order for construction on October 18, 2017. Construction is anticipated to commence April 2018. Fleet Management Seawall Scope: Complete replacement of approximately 200 feet of seawall to protect upland structures. Status: Construction began late June 2017 as an emergency repair. Anticipated completion date is March 2018. Lower North Bay Road Street Lighting Scope: Installation of decorative street lighting system along Lower North Bay Road. Status: Notice to Proceed was issued October 25, 2017. Anticipated completion March 2018. Middle Beach Recreational Corridor Ph. 2 - Section 1 (Beachwalk) Scope: Construction of an on -grade pedestrian walkway encompassing eleven (11) City blocks or approximately 134,500 square feet from 53 St to 64 St. Status: Contractor has cleared non-native/invasive landscaping and has commenced with preparation of sub -base. Contractor is currently laying out paver path in dune areas. Middle Beach Recreational Corridor Ph. 2 — Section 2 (Beachwalk) Scope: Construction of an on -grade pedestrian walkway from 46 St to 53 St. Status: Commission approved award to JRT Construction on October 18, 2017. Contract has been executed. Construction is scheduled to start February 2018. Project is scheduled for completion October/November 2018. Muss Park Pavilion Scope: Demolition of the existing pavilion and the construction of a new pavilion. The new pavilion will be LEED Gold certified. Status: Construction began February 2017. Project is 95% complete and scheduled for completion January 2018. Muss Park Seawall Scope: Replacement of 323 linear feet shoreline. Status: Seawall installation is complete anc Seawall was completed November 2017. of seawall including 67 linear feet of living contractor has begun site restoration activity. Palm & Hibiscus Island Neighborhood Improvements Scope: Neighborhood improvements on Palm and Hibiscus Islands. Status: Construction began January 2016. Project is 66% complete and scheduled for completion Spring 2018. South Pointe Park Remediation — Water Feature Scope: Construction of 4 new water features, landscaping, and plaza. Status: Project achieved substantial completion in August 2017. Pumping systems that were damaged due to flooding have been repaired. Fountains are fully operational. Stormwater Pump Station at 19 Street Scope: Installation of a stormwater pump station, including an emergency generator and seawall reconstruction along Collins canal. Status: Currently design is at 90%. Seawall construction commenced October 2017. Anticipated construction of the pump station to begin January 2018. SunsetlsJ_a-lleighborhood-Impr_ovements Scope: Sunset Islands 3 & 4 — Neighborhood improvement. Status: Construction began June 2015. Project is 95% complete and scheduled for completion late February 2018. Surface Parking Lot P2 — Nikki Beach (Penrods) Scope: Reconstruction of the parking lot that includes landscaping, turtle friendly lighting, improvements to storm water drainage, irrigation, paving and signage, and infrastructure for future electric car charging stations. Status: Contract for construction services was awarded to West Construction at the December 2017 commission meeting. Contract is currently being executed. Construction is anticipated to begin May 2018 and is scheduled for completion November 2018. Venetian Islands Neighborhood Improvements Scope: Neighborhood improvements on San Marino, Dilido and Rivo Alto Islands. Status: Construction began May 2013. Project is 86% complete and scheduled for completion January 2018 for San Marino, February 2018 for Dilido and July 2018 for Rivo Alto Islands. West Avenue Phase II Improvements - North of 14 Street Scope: Neighborhood Right of Way improvements north of 14th Street to Lincoln Lane. Status: Notice to Proceed #1 was issued July 31, 2017. Currently design is at 60% developement. At the December 2017 commission meeting the project was referred to the Sustainability and Resiliency Committee for review. West Avenue Phase II Improvements - South of 14 Street Scope: Neighborhood Right of Way improvements south of 14th Street to 6th Street. Status: Notice to Proceed #1 was issued July 31, 2017. Currently design is at 60% developement. At the December 2017 commission meeting the project was referred to the Sustainability and Resiliency Committee for review. JLM/ /D
