AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1605, THE
UNCLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES SALARY ORDINANCE,
ESTABLISHING THE CLASSIFICATION OF AND
SALARY RANGE FOR THE POSITION OF DEPUTY
CITY MANAGER; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT THEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: Section 1A and 1B of Ordinance No. 1605 are amended as follows:

PROPOSED ENDMENT TO UNCLASSIFIED SALARY ORDINANCE NO.1605
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission adopt the ordinance on
the second reading amending Unclassified Salary Ordinance No. 1 605 to establish the
classification of and salary range for Deputy City Manager.
BACKGROUND:
The position of Deputy City Manager will serve to support the City Manager and develop the
City in directing the overall operation in strategic areas. These areas will specifically focus on
planning, quality of life issues that affect our community, enhancing our customer service
levels that our employees are providing, and overall serving our government to be more
responsive to the needs and concerns of our citizens. The duties of the Deputy City Manager
will be performed under the administrative direction of the City Manager who will outline these
broad areas of responsibilities and assign projects.
ANALYSIS:
The creation of the position of Deputy City Manager will enhance the strategic planning
necessary for the continued growth and development for the City of Miami Beach.
CONCLUSION:
It is recommended that this amendment to Ordinance No. 1605 establishing the classification
of Deputy City Manager be approved.
