Resolution 2490 RESOLUTION NO. 2490
WHEREAS , it has come to the attention of the City
Council of the City of Miami Beach , Dade County , Flor-
ida ,

id , that there is an unexpended balance of funds appro-
priated for the construction of Post Office facilities
for Miami , and ,
WHEREAS , the Miami Beach Post Office at present
comes under the supervision and is recognized by the
Government as a part of Mi^mi ' s Post Office facilities ,
and ,
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach , by reason of
our growth and great volume of business , is entitled
to classification as a First Class Post Office , and is
in need of and is justly entitled to more appropriate
and adequate postal facilities ,
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUN-
CIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH , FLORIDA , in regular
meeting assembled on this the 23rd day of October ,
1931 , that the Federal Government be and it is hereby
requested and respectfully urged to expend the unused
part of the Miami appropriation ,and such additional
sum or sums as may be necessary to procure a suitable
site and construct a suitable Government Building for
the housing of either a First Class Post Office or a
branch of the Miami Post Office , and such other neces-
sary Government offices as are required at Miami Beach ,
and ,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , that if for any reason
this appropriation above referred to cannot be expended
for this purpose , that the Government is hereby request-
ed and respectfully urged to include in the next Appro-
priation Bill a fund for the purpose hereinabove men-
tioned ,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , that a copy of this reso-
lution be sent to the President of The United States ,
to the Secretary of The Treasury , The Postmaster Gener-
al , Senator Duncan U. Fletcher , Honorable Ruth Bryan
Owen , and Honorable Glenn B. Skipper.
