"TREAS, the unemployment 'problam at Miami Beach is
becomin,' acute and has resulted in suffering amongst many of
our citizens because of their ina ility to secure work, and
WHEREAS, this condition will become more aggravated
as our winter season draws to a close, and
-IHEREAS, because of unusual tax delinquencies, it is im-
possible for the City to finance "made work" projects to pro-
vide employment Thr those in distress-, and
WHEREAS, federal funds are available through the Dade
County Unemployment Relief Council to provide work for those
in need,
NOW THEREFORE, B : IT RESOLVED that formal appltmation be
hereby made to the Dade County Unemployment Relief Council for
approval of the project described in the City Manager' s letter
of September 24, 1932, addressed to the Executive Committee as
follows:

On behalf of the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Miami Beach, I hereby make application
for approval of the following work project to be prose-
cutec by forces employed and paid tl.ru the Federal
Relief Fund.
The project consists of grading, grassing
fmc otherwise beautifying the parkways on all streets
and avenues lying west of WashiLv:ton Avenue between
Biscayne street and. Collins Canal, or as much thereof
as is feasible with funds available. This project con-
sists of a proximately 165,000 square yards of area to
be grassed which will entail approximately 40r0 man days
of labor.
The City will furnish all tools, materials
and equiplJent and will provide transportation from such
central point as my be designated in Miami Beach to and
from the work.
This project involves employment not pro-
vided for in our budget and is only for work which
would not otherwise be performed.
