Resolution 2606 RESOLUTION NO. 2606
WHEREAS, because of general economic conditions
many of our citizens who are willing and able to work are
unable to secure employment, and
WHEREAS, it is the duty of cities to provide the ne-
cessities of life for their citizens who are in distress by
reason of being unemployed, and
WHEREAS, the burden of taxation will be lessened by
providing employment for our citizens and thereby relieving
them from the necessity of charity,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Manager
be instructed to see that in the future only resident of
Miami Beach be employed by the City and that all non-resident
employees now on the payroll be relieved from duty, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that for the purpose of this
resolution "residence" shall be construed to mean the continu-
ous maintenance and occupancy of sleeping and living quarters
in the city during the period of employment except during such
time as the employee shall reside elsewhere by permission of
City Council or Oiuy Manager or shall be on vacation. •
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution become ef-
fective May 1st, 1933 .
