Resolution 2617 RESOLUTION NO. 2617
IT APPEARING that a substantial and important service
may be rendered our Community and its citizens through the
proper advertising of our City as a health and recreational
resort, and place of permanent residence, and
WHEREAS divers petitions and requests have been filed
with this Body by local civic organizations and agencies, sug—
gesting and urging a more comprehensive plan of advertising
and dissemination of information relating to the advantage,
facilities and opportunities offered by our City, and
WHEREAS it appears that the present milla.ge of one mill
of general taxation for this purpose may be insufficient to
meet the requirements which may be necessary to carry on a
more advantageous and increased program of diversified adver—
tising during the next ensuing years,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Miami Beach that the Charter be amended so as to
permit the City Council to levy in any year a maximum of two
mills of general taxation, subject to a referendum of the free
holders every two years, to be paid into the advertising and
publicity fund of the City of Miami Beach and used by the City
Council for such advertising and publicity purposes as may by
them be deemed advisable;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the necessary amendment to
carry out this Resolution be immediately prepared and that
same be presented immediately to the present pending State
Legislature for consideration.
