RESOLUTION NO. 3463
WHEREAS, the Supreme Architect of the Universe has
seen fit to remove from this life on March 9th, 1936, our
esteemed friend and fellow citizen, the Honorable Thomas
E. James , and
WHEREAS, this able and conscientious man was present
at and took a prominent part in the incorporation of the
Town of Miami Beach on March 26th, 1915, serving as Council-
man and Finance Chairman from its inception all through our
trying early years through the transition from a town into
a city in 1917, and continuing in this same capacity with
the City of Miami Beach until November let , 1920 , and
WHEREAS, on this date he was again retained in the ser-
vice of this City as Mayor, serving in said ca oacity until
November let, 1922, and
WHEREAS, Mr. James will always be remembered for his
sterling character and high ideals, together with his splendid
financial leadership so essential to the new and growing com-
munity of Miami Beach,
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH , FLORIDA, that we hereby express our
sincere regret at his passing and humbly extend our sympathy
to his loved ones in their bereavement, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread
upon a special page of our minute record and that a copy of
same be sent to the immediate family of our late friend, Thomas
E. James.
PASSED AND NNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED on this the 25th day of
March, A. D. , 1936.
