Resolution 3470 RESOLUTION NO. 3 470 A RESOLUTION ENDORSING AND APPROVING OF A CERTAIN JOINT RESOLUTION PRE- PARED AND SUBMITTED TO RE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES BY THE CITY OF MIAMI , FLORIDA, BEING A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A PUBLIC 'ROANS ADMINIS- 'RATION PROJECT PROVIDING A PAX AHEM.. CAR EXPOSITION BUILDING AT MIAMI AND URGING FAVORABLE ACTION THEREON BY THE CONGRESS. wHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami , Florida, is preparing for submission to the Congress of the United States a brief in support of a proposal made by that City for the establish- ment at Miami of a Pan American Exposition Building as a project of the Public Works Administration , and ' HEREA3 , the said Commission of the City of Miami has previous- ly submitted to both the Senate and the House of Representatives of the United States Congress a form of joint resolution in which the approval of the Congress is given to said project , the title of said Resolution being as follows: *A JOINT RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CONSTRUCTION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF BUILDING AND FACILITIES FOR, AND THE PRODUCTION AND OPERATION OF A PAN AMERI- CAN EXPOSITION AND MERCHANDIZING WART AT MIAMI , FLORIDA, AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS ADMINISTRAION TO COOPERATE IN MAKING AVAILABLE CERTAIN FUNDS THEREFOR; PROVIDING FOR THE PARTICIPATION BY THE UNITED STATES THEREIN , AND TO PERMIT ARTICLES IMPORTED FROM FOREIGN COUNTRIES FOR THE PURPOSE ©T EXHIBITION AT SUCH EXPOSITION TO BE ADMITTED WITHOUT PAYMENT OF TARIFF AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES'; and , WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach , Florida , is also convincedthat a Pen American Exposition established in this area would prove invaluable and of vary wide spread benefit as its physical location in this area would sate possible an easy place for contact between the manufacturers and merchants of this country and those of the countries to the South of us , thus materially increas- ing the trade between the two Americas. XO1 , THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH , FLORIDA, that we do hereby endorse and approve of this project and we respectfully urge the Public riorks Administration to make possible the establishment of such a Pan American Exposition in Miami as they contemplate , and we further respectfully petition both the Senate and the House of Representatives of the United States Congress for their favorable consideration and adoption of the afore- mentioned joint reeolution as heretofore submitted by the City of Miami.
