STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING PLANS PROCESSING SERVICES-RFQ NO. 12-01/02
As you are aware, the ranking of the qualified firms for the Structural Plans Review
Services was completed, and presented and approved by the City Commission on May 29,
2002. The intent of the RFQ and the subsequent ranking is to have multiple engineering
firms available at the City's disposal to augment the City staff in providing Structural Plans
Review on an as-needed basis.
The City's Building Department will assign plans to each firm as needs for services arise.
The order of assignment to each firm will depend on negotiated hourly rate for service, the
firm's capacity to review plans in a reasonable period of time, the level of expertise required
by the City for the type of project assigned, the level of expertise available at each fi][[-~, and
the quality and comprehensiveness of review provided. The City does not have previous
experience with these firms and the first assignments will be on a trial basis.
At this time, hiring of additional Structural Plans Examiners by the City has minimized the
need for outside Structural Plans Review Services. However, the process is now in place
for additional reviewers during times when there may be occasional surge in workload,
shortage of staff time due to personnel time-off, or should the applicant require expedited
service beyond that offered by the City.
