Gonzalez ~ ~~ City Manager () 0 Census 2000 Results Date: June 26, 2002 To: Subject: Attached, please find additional demographic, social, economic and housing data on Miami Beach that was contained in the second release of Census 2000 information. Some of the highlights of this release are: · The median age dropped to 39 years old; · The Hispanic population increased 8.4% from 43,342 in 1990 to 47,000 in 2000; · The number of persons who walk to work or work at home increased 38%, from 4,545 in 1990 to 6,256 in 2000; · Median Household Income increased 78.4% to $27,322, and Per Capita Income increased 68.8% to $27,853; · The number of households with earnings increased 18.7%, and the mean earnings are $56,767; · The number of families below poverty dropped 25.6%, and the number of individuals below poverty fell 17.4%.
