A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ADOPTING
THE FOURTH AMENDMENT TO THE POLICE
CONFISCATION TRUST FUND FOR FISCAL YEAR
1996/97, IN THE AMOUNT OF $38,000, TO BE
FUNDED FROM THE PROCEEDS OF STATE CONFISCATED
FUNDS.
WHEREAS, Section 932.705, Florida Statutes, addresses the
purposes and procedures to be utilized for the appropriation a1.d
expenditures of the Police Confiscation Trust Fundi and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police of the City of Miami Beach h:ts
determined that the need for expenditures and appropriation
exists and the expenditure or appropriation of forfeiture fund3
is in compliance with Section 932.705, Florida Statutes, and wLt1.
Federal guidelines; and
WHEREAS, such funds are available in the Police ConfiscatLo1.
Trust Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor
and City Commission hereby adopt the Fourth Amendment to the
96/97 Police Confiscation Trust Fund Budget for the City of Mia.mL
Beach, in the amount of $38,000, as reflected in the attached
Exhibit "All.

CONTRIBUTION TO THE POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE:
Summer Jobs Program: The Miami Beach Police Athletic League
Explorers consist of young adults sharing a common interest in
law enforcement. The Explorers get a "hands on" experience
concerning law enforcement through their many functions, some
of which include traffic control, accident investigation, crime
prevention, security, field interrogation and arrest procedures.
State competition - To allow seven Explorers and one
Police Officer to attend the 1997 Florida Association of
Police Explorers to take place in Wesley Chapel, Florida
Additional TRAINING for the members ofthe Miami Beach
Police Department
Customizing a new van for the Crime Scene Unit
including cabinets, drawers, safety screen and
storage area

(PAL) FOR THE SUMMER JOBS PROGRAM AND THE STATE
COMPETITION; AND CUSTOMIZING A NEW VAN FOR THE CRIME
SCENE UNIT (FOURTH AMENDMENT FY 96/97)
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the Resolution
BACKGROUND
Florida Statute 932.705 provides for, but is not limited to,
expenditure of forfeiture funds for crime prevention, other la1v
enforcement purposes and contribution to an organization that
benefits the youth of Miami Beach.
The Chief of Police of the City of Miami Beach has reviewed ami
identified the need for the expenditures and the appropriation of
forfeiture funds 1S in compliance with Section 932.705, Florida
State Statutes.
ANALYSIS
The Administration requests authorization to adopt the
Fourth Amendment to the operating budget for the FY 96/97 Poli<:~e
Confiscation Trust Fund in the amount of $38,000 from State
funds to be used to provide funds for the expenditures listed in
Exhibit "A".
In accordance with Florida State Statute 932.705, forfeiture
funds have been deposited in the Police Confisc~A~t Fund.C.1 ~

The City has complied with all statutory procedures involved in
the transaction of these funds.
CONCLUSION
The attached Resolution provides for the Fourth Amendment to the
FY 96/97 Police Confiscation Trust Fund in the amount of $38,01)0
to be used for the expenditures listed in Exhibit "A".
