STATUS OF FIRE DEPARTMENT'S ENHANCED INSPECTION PROGRAM
From:
Subject:
In February of this year, I approved an Enhanced Fire Inspection Program designed to
provide after-hours and weekend inspections and plans review, to assist contractors and
developers in completing their projects in a timely manner. The ultimate goal was to
improve and enhance customer service.
As of June 26, 2002, there have been twenty-eight (28) requests for inspection services
requiring 144 hours of after-hour staff time. Thus far revenues generated from this
program total $11,362 dollars. Overtime paid to Fire Inspectors total $7,131 dollars, and
the remaining $4,231 dollars are administrative fees for the City.
Early feedback received from the Contractors who have availed themselves of this service
is extremely positive. Contractors and developers have been able to expedite their
projects and inspections at a nominal cost to the private sector and at no cost to the City.
