A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AN
EXTENSION OF UP TO SEVENTY~FIVE (75) DAYS TO THE
EXISTING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH AND BEACH PARKING SYSTEM FOR THE
MANAGEMENT OF THE 13TH STREET GARAGE; SAID
EXTENSION COMMENCING ON JULY 1, 1997, AND ENDING NOT
LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 13, 1997.
WHEREAS, on April I, 1991, the City entered into an Agreement with Beach Parkil g
System for the management of the 13th Street Parking Garage (Agreement); and
WHEREAS, on June 19, 1996, the Agreement was renewed for an additional one- ye lr
period, and is due to expire on June 30, 1997; and
WHEREAS, the City is currently reviewing responses to a request for proposals to supp y
parking attendant and cashiers; and
WHEREAS, prior to the conclusion of this review process, the existing Agreement w: 11
expire; and
WHEREAS, to maintain uninterrupted service to the public, it is necessary to extend tl e
current Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Administration recommends that the Agreement be extended for a ptri( d
of up to seventy-five (75) days, commencing on July 1, 1997, and ending not later than Septef1h:r
13, 1997.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CIT I{
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and Ci" y
Commission hereby approve and authorize an extension of up to seventy-five (75) days tc tl e

ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends the Mayor and City Commission approve and authorize an extension "f
up to seventy-five (75) days to the existing Agreement between the City of Miami Beach and Beach Pat kit g
System for the daily management of the 13th Street Parking Garage.
BACKGROUND:
On April 1, 1991, the Mayor and City Commission awarded an Agreement to Beach Parking System for tl e
daily management of the 13th Street Parking Garage. On June 19, 1996, this Agreement was renewe:l t)r
an additional one-year period. The existing Agreement will expire on June 30, 1997.
ANALYSIS:
Currently, the City is in the process of reviewing responses to a request for proposal to supply Patkil g
Attendants and Cashiers. During this process, the existing Agreement for the 13th Street Garage w 11
expire. To maintain uninterrupted service to the parking public, it will be necessary to extend the curre It
Agreement with Beach Parking System for a period of up to seventy-five (75) days.
CONCLUSION:
Based on the time needed to complete the selection of the proposer to the Parking Attendants and Cas~ie's
request for proposal, the Administration recommends the extension of the current Agreement for lip 0
seventy-five (75) days.
