The purpose of this LTC is to inform the Mayor and the Commission of a recent recognition
that the City of Miami Beach received. At a national conference of the City & County
Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) in Washington, D.C. last week, the
City of Miami Beach was recognized with a Savvy Award in the special events category.
The Savvy Awards competition is sponsored by 3CMA, and is held in cooperation with the
National League of Cities. The Savvy Awards program incorporates the prestigious City
Hall Public Information Awards Competition, sponsored for 17 years by City Hall
Communications. The awards recognize outstanding local government achievements in
communications, public sector marketing, and citizen-government relationships. The
Savvies salute skilled and effective city/county/agency professionals who have creatively
planned and carried out successful innovations.
The judges cited the City's outstanding collaboration of partners and sponsors in creating a
"mega" event and the creative communications and marketing initiatives used in the
success of our Veterans Day Benefit Concert with *NSYNC & Friends in November of
2001.
Please join me in congratulating the all the staff and community partners who diligently
worked on making this event a success.
