WEB BASED PERMITTING SYSTEM FOR THE FILM & PRINT DIVISION
Date: September 23, 2002
The purpose of this L.T.C. is to update the Mayor and Commission on the City's newly
developed Web Based Permitting System for the Film & Print Division. The system,
currently going through final testing, encompasses several improvements and
advancements to the current system, and is notable due to the hard work and progressive
innovations of our IT Department. ·
This custom designed system was developed in response to feedback from our production
clients and to streamline the permitting process both for our external clients and for our City
partners internally. This system places Miami Beach on the forefront of e-services offered
by film offices.
The changes affect both our external clients and internal colleagues by offering easier
tracking of permit status, automated communication via email, and tracking of requests and
communications. This system also eliminates one time-consuming step and saves our
regular clients from repetitive tasks making it quicker and easier for them. Clients, when
applying on line, are able to quickly enter all their information, which is immediately
available to the film office for review and stored and recorded in our database. Also new to
this system is a more standardized communication process between the City's Police Off
Duty Office and other impacted City Departments and the Film & Print Division. This will
greatly improve communications between the City and clients and assure accurate and
informed planning for productions in Miami Beach.
This project has been in development for over 6 months, and is a wonderful example of our
goal to create a better e-government environment to serve our residents and businesses.
If you have any questions about the system or would like a demonstration, please feel free
to contact Tom VVeschler, Interim ACE Director, at (305) 673-7577.
