RESOLUTION NO. 74-14529
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
CITY MANAGER TO PREPARE SPECIFICATIONS FOR
PROPOSED SALE OR LONG-TERM LEASE OF AIR
SPACE OVER MUNICIPALLY OWNED LAND SOUTH OF
17TH STREET .
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach is the owner in fee
simple of the following described area of land, to wit:
An area bounded as follows : On the north
by the south side of 17th Street; on the
east by the west side of Washington
Avenue; on the south by the north side of
North Lincoln Lane; and on the west by the
east side of Pennsylvania Avenue.
and
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Miami Beach
has found and determined that there is no immediate need for
the air space above said area of land at the present time or
in the reasonably foreseeable future, and
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Miami Beach
has found and determined that the best interests of the City of
Miami Beach, its residents and inhabitants require that the said
air space be sold, or leased for such long term as may be
reasonable and permitted by law provided, however, that the
purchaser or lessee, and their successors , heirs , and assigns
shall irrevocably bind themselves for the construction and
maintenance in and upon said air space of buildings and improve-
ments designed for and used as a hotel, and a merchandise mart.
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Manager be and he
is hereby authorized and directed to prepare appropriate specifica-
tions and requirements for such sale or long-term lease of said
air space, or such portion thereof, as may be deemed desirable and
appropriate, and to submit said proposed specifications and
directions to the City Council for its approval, at the earliest
possible date.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Manager be and he is
hereby authorized and directed, in conjunction with the foregoing,
to consult and confer with appropriate consultants as to the
desirability and feasibility of including appropriate vocational
and educational facilities in said proposed i provements.
