This event is free and open to all who are interested in watching the live taping and all associated segments. The morning show will divert from its usual format by allowing its anchors, Charlie Gibson and Diane Sawyer, to roam freely throughout the site, taping one segment from the News Caf6 and another by the volleyball courts. As per the request of Good Morning America producers, all daily operations of all businesses on Ocean Drive, including beach concessions, will run as they normally would. The news event will also include a special performance by the musical group Bon Jovi on the beach at 9th Street. The performance is scheduled to take place at 8:30 am. Other segments of the show include, a cooking demonstration, several news pieces on our community, the weather forecast from the Miami Beach Lifeguard stand at 8th Street and a visit to the under water hotel in Key Largo. The Greater Miami Convention and Visitor's Bureau (GMCVB), the Ocean Drive Association and the City of Miami Beach have been working diligently with Good Morning America producers to ensure a successful and safe news event. The GMCVB and the City have begun an advertising campaign that includes banner planes and beach billboards, to attract local residents and visitors to participate in the news show. In addition, the City has coordinated with all City departments, including Police, Fire; Beach Patrol, and Parking to ensure that all public safety needs are met.
