A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH CALLING PUBLIC HEARINGS
FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSIDERING AMENDMENTS TO
ORDINANCE NO. 1891, THE CITY'S COMPREHENSIVE
ZONING ORDINANCE, BY AMENDING SECTION 22-15
OF SAID ORDINANCE RELATING TO CONDITIONS ON
j THE USE OF PROPERTY WITHIN THE REDEVELOPMENT
AREA.
WHEREAS, the MIAMI BEACH REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY has requested
certain amendments to Section 22 of the City' s Zoning Ordinance
as per the attached request.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of
the City of Miami Beach that public hearings be and they are
hereby called for the purpose of considering an ordinance
ammending the City' s Zoning Ordinance in conformity with the
request of the Redevelopment Agency, said hearings to be held
on July 7, 1982 , at 6 : 00 o 'clock P.M. and July 21, 1982 , at
2 : 00 o 'clock P.M. in the Commission Chambers . The City Clerk
is directed to publish the required notice.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 16th day of June, 1982 .

Dear Mr. Lee:
As you are undoubtedly aware, the last paragraph of Section 22-15 of
Ordinance 1981, the City' s comprehensive zoning ordinance provides
in part as follows:
For a period of five years from the date of the
passage of this Ordinance, no new construction
will be permitted in the project area unless such
construction is to be located on a parcel which
has been converted to an (RU) Redevelopment Use
District by virtue of the provisions of this Ordinance
rl and such parcel is to be developed according to the
limitations and controls expressed in this Ordinance.
The period referred to in said section will expire on August 17, 1982 .
The Redevelopment Agency therefore requests that the City enact an
amendment to said section reading as follows:
For a period of five and one-half years from the
date of the passage of this Ordinance, * no new

of this Ordinance and such parcel is to be developed
according to the limitations and controls expressed
in this Ordinance.
*Ordinance 77-2099 , adooted 8/17/77 .
As I understand the matter, Ordinance 77-2099 , which enacted Section
22 of the zoning ordinance was passed and adopted on 8/17/77. The
amendment we are requesting, if adopted, would extend the prohibition
contained in the above quoted section through February 17, 1983.
We request that the Planning Board take the matter up at its hearing
of June 22 , 1982 . In the interim, we intend to appear before the
City Commission on June 16 , 1982 to request that they call a public
hearing for July 7 , 1982 to consider the proposed ordinance.
As you are probably aware, the Amended and Restated Redevelopment
Plan just recently adopted by the City Commission will require
further amendments to Section 22 of the City Zoning Ordinance. The
adoption of the amendment requested above will give us the time to
carefully consider the precise nature of the amendments needed to
implement the Amended and Restated Redevelopment Plan.
