ANALYSIS
At the July 26,2017 Commission meeting, a referral to discuss the naming of the tennis center at North Shore Park
was deferred until the October 18,2017 Commission meeting.
At the August 3, 2017 Mayor's North Beach Steering Committee meeting, Committee members unanimously voted
to name the tennis center at North Shore Park as"Miami Beach Tennis Club"(Exhibit A).
The Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board ("Board") discussed renaming the tennis center as "Miami
Beach Tennis Club at North Shore Park" at their meeting on October 4, 2017.Although the Board was in favor of
"Miami Beach Tennis", some members expressed hesitation labeling it a "club" and argued this could lend the
impression the courts are privately owned. The Board agreed to revisit this naming after the City decides to rename
North Shore Open Space Park as either"North Beach Oceanside Park"or"North Shore Oceanside Park".
On October 18,2017, Commission referred a discussion regarding naming the tennis center at North Shore Park as

Shore Park the "Miami Beach Tennis Center"and move it to the Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board
for their input before it goes back to the City Commission.Commissioner Samuelian seconded the motion.
At the February 6, 2018 Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board meeting, a motion to rename the North
