A RESOLUTION OF THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF
THE MIAMI BEACH REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY,
AUTHORIZING THE CHAIRMAN AND SECRETARY TO
EXECUTE A QUIT CLAIM DEED TRANSFERRING TITLE
TO THE 16TH STREET EXTENSION BETWEEN
WASHINGTON AND COLLINS AVENUES TO THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH AS A PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY.
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency (Agency) is the owner of the
property which is being developed as the 16th Street extension between Washington and Collins
Avenues ("16th Street extension"), which property is legally described in Exhibit "1" to the Quit
Claim Deed, which deed is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach (the "City") has received $2 million in grant
monies from the State of Florida for the acquisition of property for and the development of the
16th Street extension; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Resolution No. 96-22165 of the City, the City paid the
Agency $1 million out of the State of Florida grant monies for acquisition of the property being
developed as the 16th Street extension between Washington and Collins Avenues; and
WHEREAS, upon receipt of $1 million in State of Florida grant monies from the City, the
Agency must execute a Quit Claim Deed transferring title of property comprising the 16th Street
extension to the City as public right-of-way,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CHAIRMAN AND
MEMBERS OF THE MIAMI BEACH REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY that:
1. The Chairman and Secretary are authorized to execute the Quit Claim Deed, which deed
is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A", transferring title to the property
which is being developed as the 16th Street extension between Washington and Collins
Avenues, from the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency to the City, which property is
legally described in Exhibit" 1 " to the Quit Claim Deed,
2, This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage.

TRANSFERRING TITLE TO THE 16TH STREET EXTENSION
BETWEEN WASHINGTON AND COLLINS AVENUES TO THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH AS A PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY.
ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt the Resolution.
BACKGROUND:
On October 10th, 1995, the City of Miami Beach (the "City") executed an agreement with the State
of Florida Department of Commerce, Division of Economic Development for a $2 million grapt
to undertake the extension of 16th Street between Collins and Washington Avenues. Pursuant to the
terms of the agreement, $1 million was applied towards property acquisition and $1 million
towards the physical street improvements.
ANAL YSIS
Since the grant was awarded to the City to undertake the project, and since the Redevelopment
Agency (RDA) had to acquire the property comprising the 16th Street extension, the City adopted
Resolution No, 96-22165 on October 9, 1996, authorizing the City to pay $1 million out of the
State grant monies to the RDA for the land acquisition.

With the streetscape improvements nearing completion and in order for for Dade County to proceed
with the traffic signalization, the RDA must execute a Quit Claim Deed, transferring title to the
16th Street extension to the City as a public right-of-way.
CONCLUSION
Execution of the Quit Claim Deed will allow for completion of the 16th Street extension which will
relieve existing and anticipated traffic congestion in the area as new development projects come on
line.
