RESOLUTION NO. 3997
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, PRO_
VIDING FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD ON JUNE 1st, 1937.
WHEREAS, for the purpose of holding and conducting general
elections of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, said City has been
divided into voting precincts or election districts with polling
places therein as follows:
PRECINCT NO. 6: That part of the City of Miami Beach
located north of Fifty-First Street, the polling place of
which shall be the ARCHWAY OCEAN VILLAS GARAGE, at 6830
Collins Avenue.
PRECINCT NO. 30: That part of the City of Miami Beach
lying south of Fifty-First Street and north of Lincoln
Road and Venetian Causeway, the polling place of which
shall be at the LIBERTY AVENUE FIRE STATION, located at
2327 Liberty Avenue.
PRECINCT NO. 31: That part of the City of Miami Beach
bounded on the South by Fifth Street and the County Cause-
way, on the East by Meridian Avenue, on the North by
Lincoln Road and the Venetian Causeway, and on the West
by the City limits of said City, the polling place of
which shall be the BAND STAND IN FLAMINGO PARK.
PRECINCT NO. 32: That part of the City of Miami Beach
bounded on the South by Fifth Street, on the West by
Meridian Avenue, on the North by Lincoln Road and on the
East by the Atlantic Ocean, the polling place of which
shall be the CITY HALL of said City.
PRECINCT NO. 33: That part of the City of Miami Beach
South of Fifth Street and the County Causeway, the poll-
ing place of which shall be in the MUNICIPAL COURT ROOM
at the corner of First Street and Meridian Avenue.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That for the purpose of holding and conducting the
general election of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
on June 1st, 1937, five (5) election boards be provided, the regis-
tration books of said City be divided into five (5) parts correspond-
ing to the precincts or election districts as above set forth, and
that for said purpose inspectors and clerks be and are hereby appoint-
ed as follows:

All of which above names, the City Clerk shall certify to the
Mayor.
SECTION 2: That said general election be held at the polling places
for the respective voting precincts as above set forth,
and all electors shall vote at the polling place in the precinct in
which the registration books of said City show that said electors
reside.
SECTION 3: That said election be held from 8 o'clock A. M. , until
sundown on June lst , 1937, for the purpose of electing
five (5) City Councilmen, all of which persons shall hold office
for the term of two years, and/or until their successors are regular-
ly elected and qualified, except that the two Councilmen who shall

receive the highest number of votes at such election shall hold of-
fice for the term of four years, and/or until their successors are
regularly elected and qualified.
SECTION 4+: That notice of said election shall be given by the Mayor
of said City by posting the notice hereinafter provided
for A. period of thirty days in three conspicuous places in the City
of Miami Beach, to-wit: At the Police Station, at Fire Station No. 2
and at the City Hall, and shall be published once a week for a period
of four (4+) consecutive weeks next preceding such election in the
Miami Beach Times, a newspaper published in the City of Miami Beach,
Florida.
SECTION 5: That said inspectors and clerks shall certify the result
of said election to said City Council immediately after
the holding of said election.
SECTION 6: That notice of election shall be in substantially
the following form:
"NOTICE OF ELECTION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a general election will
be held in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, from 5 o'clock
A. M. , until sundown on June 1st, 1937, for the purpose of
electing the following officers of said City:
Five persons as members of the City Council,
the two receiving the highest number of votes as ouncil-
men to hold office for the term of four years. All other
officers so elected shall hold office for the term of
two years.
For the purpose of holding and conducting said election the
City of Miami Beach has been divided into voting precincts
or election districts with polling places therein as follows:
PRECINCT NO. 6: That part of the City of Miami Beach located
north of Fifty-First Street, the polling place of which shall
be the ARCHWAY OCEAN VILLAS GARAGE, at 6530 Collins Avenue.
PRECINCT NO. 30: That part of the G" ty of Miami Beach lying
South of Fifty-first Street, and north of Lincoln Road and
Venetian Causeway, the polling place of which shall be at
the LIBERTY AVENUE FIRE STATION, located at 2327 Liberty Ave-
nue.
PRECINCT NO. 31: That part of the City of Miami Beach
bounded on the South by Fifth Street and the County Causeway,
on the East by Meridian Avenue, on the North by Lincoln Road
and the Venetian Causeway, and on the West by the City limits
of said City, the polling place of which shall be the Band
Stand in Flamingo Park.
PRECINCT NO. 32: That part of the City of Miami Beach
bounded on the South by Fifth Street, on the West by Meridian
Avenue, on the north by Lincoln Road and on the East by the
Atlantic Ocean, the polling place of which shall be the CITY
HALL of said City.
PRECINCT NO. 33: That part of the City of Miami Beach south
of Fifth Street and the County Causeway, the polling place
of which shall he in the MUNICIPAL COURT ROOM at the corner
of First Street and Meridian Avenue.
All electors shall vote at the polling place in the voting
precinct in which the City registration books show that said
electors reside.

The registration books of said City will be open for the
purpose of registering any person qualified to vote in such
election until and including May Sth, 1937.
Persons properly registering who have paid their 1935 and
1936 poll taxes on or before May gth, 1937, will be qualified to
vote in said election.

SECTION 7: That the form of ballot to be used in said election
shall hereafter be provided for.
